What is Software Maintenance Service?

MathWorks Software Maintenance Service is a fee-based program that provides you with regular updates to MATLAB and Simulink products, as well as access to the highest level of technical support service.

What are the benefits of Software Maintenance Service?

Software Maintenance Service includes the following benefits:

1. Telephone and e-mail access to OPTI-NUM solutions' technical support engineers.
2. Request free shipment of new product DVDs and Getting Started guides
3. Access to the download section of the MathWorks Web site to obtain patches, point releases, and major releases.
4. Access to trial downloads of any MathWorks product.
5. Access to prerelease and beta versions of new products and updates.
6. Ability to purchase additional products for your license.

How Does Software Maintenance Service Work?

If you have a perpetual license:

The first year of maintenance is included at no additional cost with a perpetual license. At the end of the first year, you have the option to purchase Software Maintenance Service for the license. The price is calculated based on your license option and the products installed in your configuration. You will automatically receive a quotation two and a half months in advance of your license anniversary date. If you choose not to purchase Software Maintenance Service for the license, you may continue to use the software, but you will no longer be eligible to receive product updates or technical support by telephone or e-mail.

If your Software Maintenance Service expires:

You may reinstate Software Maintenance Service within four years of the expiration date by paying for the lapsed maintenance term plus a reinstatement charge. Licenses that have been out of maintenance for three or more months are charged a reinstatement fee of 5% of the new product purchase price. After four years from the original expiration date, you will need to purchase a new license. If you plan to use your MathWorks software for the long term, the most cost-effective approach is to remain current under an Software Maintenance Service contract.
