Discover how simulation and model-based design are transforming engineering education and research — from classroom innovation to real-world impact.
Engage with Steve Miller (MathWorks) and local experts as they share insights, practical examples, and collaboration opportunities that advance the future of engineering in South Africa.
Steve Miller, Simscape Product Manager, MathWorks
Engineers developing complex systems rely on simulation to make sure the products they put in the hands of others will behave as expected, help people do something that would otherwise be impossible, and inspire further success. Be it a phone, car, excavator, or a ship, the long journey a product takes from an idea to a reality is riddled with challenges. In this talk, we will discuss the value of simulation in addressing those hurdles through both personal experiences and case studies using Simscape.

Steve Miller has been a core part of the Simscape team at MathWorks since 2006. Steve joined MathWorks as an Application Engineer in 2005 and moved to product management in 2006. Prior to that, Steve worked at Delphi Automotive in Braking Control Systems and at MSC. Software Adams consulting in various capacities at Ford, GM, Hyundai, BMW, and Audi. Steve has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University.
