Juan Sagarduy is a senior application engineer in the control design and automation field at MathWorks. His specific focus is physical multidomain modeling and simulation. In his role, Juan provides technical expertise for successful adoption of plant modeling tools (Simscape™ platform) for model-based development. In recent years, he has led several initiatives within Electrification for the Nordic region. Before joining MathWorks in 2011, Juan worked at the ABB Corporate Research Centre (Västerås, Sweden) in electrical machines and motion control projects. Juan holds an M.S. degree in industrial engineering (Bilbao, Spain) and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Cardiff University in the UK.

Praneet Kala, an engineering Team Lead at Opti-Num Solutions, heads up the Digital Engineering Focus Area, sharing insights on leveraging cutting-edge digital engineering solutions. With a strong foundation in mechanical engineering and a passion for innovative digital technologies, Praneet leads complex projects across the Aerospace & Defence, Wireless Communications, Energy, and Automotive sectors. At Opti-Num Solutions, he is instrumental in delivering high-impact solutions using MathWorks tools for Model-Based Design and Simulation-Based Engineering. The Digital Engineering Focus Area offers tailored solutions to accelerate digital transformation, including model-based design, system simulation, and digital twin technology for improved decision-making and efficiency. Praneet has successfully led his team to complete projects involving custom software reference designs for hardware (SOC’s), autonomous driving development, and modelling physical systems, offering invaluable perspectives on the future of engineering
